DRUGS AND ALCOHOL: THEY DON'T BELONG IN THE SAME SENTENCE.(PERSPECTIVE)

You could, if you weren't careful, begin to think that the world iscomposed of only two sorts of people. We have those overflowing with tolerance, sensitivity and the milk of human kindness like you and me.

And we have them the uncaring, self-righteous moralists who work to erode the self-esteem of people who are just being people. The moralists are unduly judgmental about others who're indisputably flawed but essentially good at heart. They're ``mean-spirited.''

More and more, ``mean-spirited'' seems to be the insult of choice from people who feel that refraining from judgment on issues of right and wrong constitutes compassion. It's a label …
