Vic: Napthine sacks frontbencher for disloyalty
Victoria's embattled opposition leader DENIS NAPTHINE says he has the support of theremainder of his shadow cabinet following the sacking of health spokesman ROBERT DOYLE.
Dr NAPTHINE asked Mr DOYLE to step down from the front bench this morning after hefailed to guarantee the leader his full support.
Dr NAPTHINE says he plans to lead the Liberal Party into the next state election andis confident the party can win under his leadership.
He says intensified media speculation over his leadership in the past few days promptedhim to seek an assurance of support from Mr DOYLE.
Dr NAPTHINE expects to appoint a replacement health spokesperson in the next few days.
A spokesperson for Mr DOYLE says the former shadow minister won't be making any commentat this stage.
